Today is my birthday, and another Works for Me Wednesday: Backwards Day over at Rocks in My Dryer.
I'm planning a party this weekend for three of us who have birthdays all within a week and a half of each other. This year, the sum of our ages is 100, so we're celebrating together at a 100th Birthday Party. I'm excited for that, but I'm in charge of doing a lot of work for it, too.
What does your family do to make your birthday special? Especially if you're the one who generally makes the special stuff happen?
Thanks in advance for the thoughts. I'll be sure to pass them on to my husband and daughter!
In our house, we have two May birthdays within two weeks of each other, and three Dec/Jan birthdays in less than a month! But I made a rule that whoever is having the special day gets taken out for supper to the restaurant of their choice. Even if it's McDonalds! My kids LOVE this, and so do I!
ReplyDeleteMy brother and I had birthdays 3 days apart, so to make our actual birthday special, the birthday kid got to pick the dinner menu. My mom had a red plate that said "You Are Special Today" and that was what dinner was served on. We also had the tradition of decorating the bedroom door of the birthday kid with streamers and candy. It was great to wake up to!
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to get one of those special red plates! I love birthdays. At our house you get your dinner out and your dessert of choice at home. I also splurge and get fancy napkins and plates.
ReplyDeleteLet us know how it goes!
I take out our good china and even the silverware from the chest. We use it for whatever the birthday person has chosen for supper. Even pizza is better on good china and it sets a special tone to the meal.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a nice birthday. I tried to post before and had trouble. My kids are older than yours, and they have lots of fun sneaking around with Daddy and coming up with surprises for me. I bet in a couple of years yours will be the same!
