How Do You Post?

I've decided to participate in Lori's Advice Forum Friday once again. Actually, it's something that came up in my mind as I was visiting blogs for Backwards WFMW this week.

How do you fit blogging into your schedule?

The times when I have managed to be prolific lately, I know I'm blogging when I really need to be catching up on chores or (ahem) I should be asleep. I only have one kid, here. I know a lot of you are writing with three, six, even ten kids! So, I want to know ... how do you do it? Where do you find the time? Do you really type that much faster than I do?

Help me figure this out, please.

no, we have dirty houses and neglected children. Of course I am kidding...kind of.

It depends on the post. Some quickies you just dash off in that hour when you should be starting supper and supper is...late.

The more significant ones I write on the weekends...while my kids are at play practice...after they go to bed...or on the rare occasions when I'm up early. Then I dole them out over a few days.

I try to have lots of posts started, or the germs of them at least. Then I add to them little by little.

You make time for what you want to do...I just wish I had more time for what I'd call "signficant" posts. The time spent on those doesn't bother me: I get more frustrated with myself for spending too much time on relatively unimportant topics.

I mostly post while nursing, during quiet time, or after the kids are in bed.

I find that instead of sitting down, "To Blog," it takes much less time for me to write a post if I run to the computer as soon as an idea pops into my head. That way I don't waste time "waiting to be inspired."

Sometimes I'll write 3 or 4 posts in one day, but I'll save them as drafts and them trot them out over the next few days, like Jeanne said.

Getting on a set household schedule helps me, too. That way, when I do sit down at the computer, I'm not worrying about what's not getting done. I know WHEN it's going to get done, because it's on the schedule.

Good luck and thanks for posting on Advice Forum Friday!
